Default New Class Idea - This is Realistic

The new class would be called a Shadowmancer.
Armor would be comparable to a monk, and energy simiilar to an elementalist


Attributes:

Invisibility (Primary)

This attribute, as its name suggests, contains skills which allows you to move around without being seen by the enemy. The more points you have in Invisibility, the more difficulty your enemies have seeing you. At level 16, you're completely invisible, although you can be seen on radar and when attacking.

Invisibility Skills

Dissappear: You are completely invisible on enemy screen and on enemy radar while you maintain this position. (time depends on level) ends if you attack, use any skill, or are targeted by an ally. Energy: 10, Energy Regen: -1

Shadow Signet: You are not visible onscreen for 30 seconds. Cast Time: 3 secs, Recharge: 2 mins

Unknown Attack: (Stacks with other invisibility skills) Allows you to attack while invisible, but if you recieve any damage, that damage is 5x greater than normal. Energy: 25, recharge: 1 min

Speed
Every point in this attribute increases your characters speed by a factor of 0.1

Speed Skills

Energy Boom: Speed is increased by 100% for 10-15 seconds. Energy: 15

Teleport: Lose all energy, and move immediately to target. Cannot move to a place you cannot see. Limited Distance. Energy: 15

Divine Passage: (Requires Monk as secondary Proffesion, or a Monk in your party) You Teleport to your target, and gain 30 health. Cannot move to a place you cannot see. Limited Distance.

Underworld Passage: (Requires Necromancer as secondary Proffesion or a necromancer in your party) You teleport to target, and take 75 damage. This skill works over any distance.

Teleport party: If you use teleport, divine/underworld passage in the next 60 seconds, your party moves with you.

Explosives
These skills do area damage. Scales with each attribute level.

Explosives Skills

Suicide Bomb: You die, as does anyone in proximity with you. Does not work on the undead, or spirits. Anyone who is ressurected comes back with half health and energy. Energy: 15

Grenade: Launch a grenade. Does 50 damage to anyone at the centerpoint. Chance of backfire: 4% Energy: 20

Explosive arrow: Does 15 damage to everyone around the target. Requires Bow weapon. Energy:15

Wow, this is a cool idea

I think he should have "shadow rings" like wards, where, in the ring your shadow skills do more damage.

He'd have more skills than that i know, but most of those seem like more helpful than hurtful moves..

I know that most of this is not related to damage, but the main idea is that you use your ability to move quickly and invisibly to place yourself strategically, and then you come out of hiding when people don't expect it. That's why i said the class would only have armor comparable to a monk - the ability to drop explosives and then teleport away is too strong otherwise.

Also, the character would probably have access to all weapons at a 70% effectiveness, making it a jack of all trades kind of like the ranger.

A few more skill ideas:

Mines: Enemies running towards you are hit with 20 damage (Explosives Skill)

Teleport Target Other: You move your target from one area to yourself. (Speed Skill)

Surprise: you dissappear while melee fighting your enemy, and attack from the back, at the enemy's weakest point. This attack has 80% armor penetration. Only works for one swing of your weapon. Stacks with other skills, i.e, if you click both skills at the same time, they stack.

This is an alright idea but what it would become is very bad. pretty much you would have ALOT of runners and worse of all teams who throw up invisibility and wait untill other teams quit. also 80% armor penetration is insane.

I'm not saying I have all the kinks worked out. The problems you mentioned could be solved by limitations.

Invisibility = super unblanced and mass runner class

change it to (1-3)% to dodge attacks per upgrade point and it would be better

I had some simulair id but i would call it a thief with the abbility 2 move unseen and 2 steal things like weapons from his enemy 2 use(he can handle any weapon) But ur id is great and u have atleast taken the time 2 work it out(i didnt rly )

Thats stupid! I like the idea but why not just have a Stalker? Same abilities but No explosives because GW isnt for Nukes, Bombs, TNT, C4 or any of that crap. Maybe explosive MAGIC but not what your thinking of. Nightshaders have same abilities (in DAoC) and they have the ability of SNEAKING which appears to the enemy as invisible. My Main Concern is to Have a Rogue Type Class that has the abilities of Poison and Dual Wielding as well as Sneaking. Thats all a rogue type character needs. Maybe a bow but a ranger should have that ability of Stalking as well. But Anet is wierd. Not bad just wierd...OOOH
i forgot to mention. If there is a skill where you kill your self then ur an idiot. Why would you come back to life with -15%? I mean thats dumb. If you get to 80% and u got 500 Health ud only have like 50 HP. Eventually Killing your character by weakening him.

Didn't you leave earlier today?

Anyway... check your math... 80% of 500 is 100. Not only THAT but the max DP you can have is -60%, which means the worst this person would do is 200 HP.

Also... the OP taking about exploding arrows... that's exactly what Rangers have. There is gunpowder in this game as well. The dwarves use it for thier mining. So saying itNOT for those things is incorrect... no reason it COULDN'T be.

However, I can't see the usefulness in the character IN THIS FORM. The overall idea has merit, someone who sneaks around... but the skills and abilities you've posted simply wouldn't work in this setting.

How exactly would you be harder to see? NPCs will not care how transparent you are, they just want to kill stuff. Enemy players would be able to see your shadow and you on high detail easily and since you can target players, it doesn't really matter if you can't see them or not, just press TAB until you're targeted and they're still going to kill you.

Ok, again, what's stopping me from attacking you if I'm already attacking...?

On screen? What screen? The whole screen, just the minimap, or out walking or what? Specify...

Ok... how would your stealth be any way of preventing people from retaliating against you? Just press TAB to target the closest enemy...

Why would you lose all your energy to teleport someplace not far away when you can use some other skill? This skill drains all energy when you could use your "Energy Boom" and go lightyears ahead lol. Make up your mind.

Again, I'd rather use orison of healing and that other one you have or a running spell of some kind to get away. Also, did you ever think about people who have this class as a second profession instead of a primary?

Way to over powered. You could be in PVP and let some kids chase you and then use the skill to go to another part of the map and heal your 15 by the time they come around, then jump across again. There's many problems here. Also, again, what if I'm Primary Necro?

Teleport party: If you use teleport, divine/underworld passage in the next 60 seconds, your party moves with you.

No thanks, too many noobs would use this and would make it so that the person with this skill could kill team mates and make them go anywhere he pleased, then gain back 15 energy and TP anywhere to get some other stuff... doesn't really work out.

Sigh. I check the Sardelac Sanitarium section, and I see a thread called "New Class Idea - This is Realistic"

So, I click on it. I read it a bit. And I see invisbility.

Can we have something else than Ninja-styled characters? Maybe ninja-wizards.

Hey Kai Nui, this was a good idea, im going to repeat what I read in another post when someone was being trashed for being creative and trying to make a new class. Sure constructive critisism is good, but just flat out flaming them for trying to make this game bigger and more diverse, thats just wrong. I want to see you try to make a class that atleast somewhat works and is creative like Olaf's. Somewhat flawed ideas are better than none.

One inhibiting factor in all skills is that they have to be balanced for PvP. If it was just PvE, you'd probably see a lot more skills that involve your location being removed from the mini-map or... well, a lot of other annoying things that AI wouldn't complain about.

In response to suggestions made by others in this post, I have modified my class idea to this:

Shadowmancer

Characteristics:
Can dual wield anything at 70% efficiency.
Base Armor: 5/Base Health: 100/Base Energy: 40/Base Energy Recharge: +3

Attributes

Invisibility (Primary)

Invisibility Skills:

Invisibility: You are invisible to enemy on radar and onscreen.
Energy: 20, Energy Recharge: -4, Skill Recharge: 60 seconds.

Cloak: You are invisible on enemy radar for 30-60 seconds.
Energy:15, Skill Recharge: 90 seconds

Camouflage: You are invisible on enemy screen for 5-15 seconds.

Speed

Speed Skills:

Shadow Runner: Move at +40% speed for 10 seconds.
Energy: 10, Skill Recharge: 30 seconds.

Teleport: Instantly move your self to your target. Limited Range.
Energy: 20, Skill Recharge: 30 seconds, 10 uses per mission

Teleport Target Other: Instantly move your target to you. Limited Range
Energy 30, Skill Recharge: 40 seconds, 10 uses per mission

Speed Signet: All characters attack and movement speeds boosted by 33%.
Energy: 15, Skill Recharge: 1 minute

Shadow Magic

Shadow Magic Skills:

Eclipse: All onscreen views go dark for 5-10 seconds, including your own.
Energy: 30, Skill Recharge: 2 minutes

Blind: Target is blind for as long as you maintain this enchantment.
Energy: 30, Energy Recharge: -4, Skill Recharge: -4

Night Fighters: Create 2 shadow warriors who fight, but do no damage.
Energy: 20, Skill Duration: 20 seconds, Skill Recharge: 3 minutes

Shadow Weaponry

Shadow Weaponry Skills:

Shadow Arrows: You shoot arrows at +10% speed. Requires ranger in party.
Energy: 25, Skill Duration: 20 seconds

Shadow Magic: Your ele/necro/mesmer skills in party are not visible to enemy.
Energy: 15, Skill Duration: 20 seconds.

Shadow Blade: Your blade attacks +10% speed. Requires warrior in party.
Energy: 30, Skill Duration: 20 seconds

Notice, no explosives, and less powerfull skills, to make it more realistic.

So basically you took a Ranger, made the skills more powerful, gave him invisibility, the ability to black someones screen out and teleportation, and called him a shadowmancer.....

Thankfully you aren't a designer for Anet.
